Dog groomer
A short distance from both Larvik and Sandefjord
Cut, slice, stripp...
When I trained as a dog groomer, I was surprised by how many different types of fur our four-legged friends have. And it's essential to know before you start working - with a brush, scissors and, not least, with a machine!
Have you bought scissors and a machine and are unable/unwilling to groom your dog?
Would you like to learn how to pinch? It's not a magic trick :-)...
I cut, pluck, brush, bathe and hold fur care courses.
The courses are set up 1:1 since I think there is too much "dead time" with multiple participants and you should get the most out of the lessons.
If you have a friend with a dog that gets along well with yours and you would prefer to attend the course together, we can make an exception. The price depends on how good you are, how well your dog is groomed before and how well it cooperates/is used to being handled. The goal is for the owner to brush + clip or clip the dog during the course.
The course usually runs over 2 consecutive days/afternoons of 3 hours each, but can be adjusted as desired.
The price for courses held 1:1 is NOK 600/hour. For 2 people/2 dogs, it is NOK 900/hour. Course participants use their own tools.

Brushing out
Long hair with guard hair + undercoat (Collie, Bernese Mountain Dog, Spitz...)
Needs regular deep brushing, preferably with a brush + comb. Removing tangles is important. Trim contours + paws at the end.
Cutting with scissors and machine
Breeds with hair (such as Cobberdog, Poodle, Water Dog...), no undercoat
Cut with scissors and machine. Here you can go all the way down to 3 mm cuts if needed/desired. No undercoat, but the most tangles and the most desperate owners.

Napping
Wire-haired breeds (such as Jack Russell Terriers, Westies, Dachshunds...)
The hair is plucked with the fingers, with the help of a plucking knife and/or with a "horn stone".
Not recommended for beginners, training is needed! Should be done at least twice a year or when the hair is "mature".
Cutting with scissors
Top coat + undercoat (all spaniels, all setters...)
Not recommended to cut short! The outer coat becomes damaged, curly and without shine and the undercoat grows even more. Here it is important to remove dead fur and thin out/cut where you think the fur is too long. Napping on the head!
